Name:Katsuki Bakugou
Canon: My Hero Academia
AU/CRAU: N
Age: 16
History: Wiki - There's links to the manga arcs within the wiki as well as links directly to specific battle details.
Personality:
Katsuki is the epitome of arrogance. He's a boy that presents himself with confidence off the charts and an explosive amount of energy to match. It's no surprise that when he discovered he had a "quirk", is was one that reflected him as a person - Explosions.

As a child, he had a way of standing over everyone, despite them being his peers more so than anything, though they often looked up to him as a leader as he exhibited those qualities of strength, charisma, and - though it doesn't make a good leader necessarily - self-importance that could mimic confidence. However once his quirk emerged, he considered this an evolution that made him superior to those around him. In tandem with an already aggressive nature, this complex escalated his behavior to a fierce bully, particularly in the case of Midoriya Izuku, who was a rare case of not having inherited any quirk of his own. Katsuki practically tortured him, laughing at his dreams to enter Yuuei (going forward will be U.A. per official English translation), the top hero academy in the country.

Age did not change this behavior in any form - it only allowed him to perfect his quirk abilities and use them to his advantage. He speaks down to most everyone, just barely scraping around disrespecting his elders/teachers in how he addresses them (he does feel he has a reputation to keep up so he can be scouted by agencies). It's minimal at best in presentation, as he seems to believe all he needs to display are his abilities as a hero that will take the top spot in their world. He's literally said in the case of pissing off a mob of other students, "It doesn't matter when you're at the top."

It's only in the year before the U.A. entrance exam does Bakugou pull his punches when Midoriya indirectly saves his life from a villain. Though he is enraged to be helped by a "quirkless little shit" like him, he finds a way to apologize/thank him while berating him. From then on he doesn't harass Izuku, but he doesn't really acknowledge him either.

It should be noted this changes when Izuku gets into U.A., Bakugou under the belief he's been made a fool of and that he had been hiding his quirk all along. (He inherited it, so to speak, but that's another story for another day.) His rage escalates to a point he actively seeks Izuku out with intent to completely destroy him during one of their classes, but when he loses to him despite going all out, his ego take a horrendous blow enough to silence him for awhile.

That being said, pride is Bakugou's weak spot as much as it is his strength. He doesn't think he's better than everyone - he knows and anyone failing to see this is an idiot. However when he is shown up, he won't admit being second best and chooses to warn whoever hangs over him that he will be the number one hero in the world no matter what - best or bust - so they should watch their back. (He'll even cry while doing so.) But more importantly, as you can see by his outburst in the link, while he won't outright say it, he acknowledges when a gap isn't quite as wide (in his favor) as he expected it to be and remains steadfast in overcoming it to meet his goals.

Bakugou tends to forget the names and quirks of his classmates, as he doesn't feel them worth remembering unless they provide a challenge to him. He's been seen to use someone's name when they face him in battle without hesitation and are just as committed to win as he is, which goes to show how important fighting, if only to prove himself, is to Bakugou. In a case where someone he considers on equal level overlooks him as a rival, this is a deep and personal offense to Katsuki and he immediately addresses it when the opportunity arises not only telling them but showing them they've made an error on who to keep an eye out for. He's forward with a short fuse to match and sees no problem with this.

Despite this behavior, he understands who his allies are and when it comes down to it, he will fight beside them, even if he believes they're not needed. If anything it serves as observation, which Katsuki is surprisingly good at for someone who tends to rush to the front line on the premise of superiority. He's flexible in battle on an instinctive level, able to make use of what surprises him to turn it on its head. Whether watching a battle or partaking, it is perhaps one of the only places where Bakugou is focused and calm (even when appearing unhinged). It's his realm, his expertise, and he doesn't fuck around.

Even when he knows he's in over his head, he doesn't act with arrogance but with focus, if anything figuring out how to get away alive but still be able to fight. His bad attitude seems to only occur with his peers, though he has told All Might - who is considered the number one hero of their era - that he would knock him off the top spot some day, though hardly with the insulting aggression he tends to have toward other students. (Though they tend to return by teasing him for his foul mouth and quick-tempered personality.)

He loves to show off his abilities and despises anyone taking it easy or holding it back should they spar. It's an insult to his skill, especially when he knows the other side is capable of more than they're displaying. If he doesn't win over their maximum capacity... well, he didn't really win.

On this matter, it's pointed out that Katsuki's actions are often unfitting behavior for a future hero, but when presented with an opportunity to deviate from U.A. and the heroics of their society, Katsuki gladly tells the villains that hold him hostage to "fuck off", as all that matters is winning under the hero's regime. To Katsuki, that is the mark of a true hero and the only concept he's willing to accept.

Overall, Bakugou Katsuki is a self-important bastard that, while he has an overwhelming confidence in his abilities, dislikes (possibly fears) being second to anyone to the point of violence to maintain it. He may act like he's all talk, but he can back up that big mouth of his. With a natural ability to battle but stunted sociability, Bakugou is a high energy individual that strives for absolute success in all he sets out to do, though his attitude could certainly use some work.

Abilities:

Primary Skill ("Quirk"): Explosion
- Katsuki's sweat is akin to nitroglycerin, and in the same vein, he can create a spark with no assistance, allowing him to ignite his sweat and use it as a weapon. His wiki page lists specific moves he has.

Strengths and Weaknesses:

Strengths

  • [ Battle Prowess ] Katsuki’s real advantages shine when he is in battle. He’s quick on his feet and as previously stated, observational when facing the unknown, and overturning his own weaknesses (and others') in order to come out on top. Though hot-headed, everyone agrees his mind is always in the right place when it comes time to speak with fists.

  • [ Physical Strength ] Katsuki's been training most of his life to fight, but what really exemplifies his strength is when he faces off with Izuku's uncontrollable quirk (one of enhanced physical abilities) and can hold his own against that strength. Amidst it all, he displays excellent form, precision in his movements, and flexibility.

  • [ Warm Weather/Heat ] As stated previously, Katsuki's sweat functions as a flammable substance, so essentially the more he sweats, the more powerful his explosions become. He's a force to be reckoned with come summertime.

Weaknesses

  • [ Cold/Winter/Dry weather ] Katsuki's quirk functions on the premise he can get his sweat going, but during the colder times of the year, it's a slow start for him and limits what he's capable of.

  • [ Explosive Output ] It's been demonstrated that if Katsuki uses both hands over just one hand, the output of his explosions lessen in impact (though are arguably still overwhelming). On top of that, there is risk to his bare hands/skin when he utilizes his quirk at full force without his gear. They don't necessarily burn, but they throb with an indeterminate amount of pain to Bakugou.
